Hotel bar, Scotland

Having looked through our bespoke projects and shelving products online, we were contacted by a client who was keen to explore shelving options for a hotel bar in Scotland.

Working with a team of interior designers, their vision was to create bespoke back bar shelving that would incorporate a top shelf with gallery rail, as well as an under-shelf rack for a generous amount of glass stemware.

As part of the design and communication process, we created an initial set of sketches that would help us to move the concept forward. These were soon followed by a set of 3D renders that are such an important tool for communicating a design – bridging the gap between a written design brief/product description and the real thing, enabling everyone involved to fully realise how the item will look.

During this process, we worked closely with our clients to devise a solution for housing the 10mm toughened glass shelf. Rather than having this sit on top of the set of wall-mounted brackets, our clients wanted an alternative approach. In liaison with our craftsmen, we developed a system where channels were engineered into the top sections of the brass brackets, that would then secure the shelf in place. The brass end caps that were then added to the front profile created a solid and seamless finish.

At 1.8m in length, this was quite a substantial shelving system. Our clients had chosen a brushed brass finish, which certainly provided them with an attention-grabbing aesthetic for their hotel back bar.

Quality Craftsmanship

This brushed surface of this brass bar shelving system retains an exquisite and delicate quality, while at the same time being robust for everyday use.
